According to reports, the several bombings and arson assaults that were recorded in Southern Thailand today and injured seven persons are not affecting former president of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the former president of Sri Lanka, is presently in Bangkok, Thailand, which is a far way from the area where the attacks have been recorded.

He landed in Thailand a week ago after leaving Sri Lanka in July as a result of many anti-government demonstrations demanding his resignation due to the ongoing financial crisis.

He fled to the Maldives, then went to Singapore before arriving in Bangkok, Thailand, a week ago on a visit visa.

When Gotabaya Rajapaksa first arrived in Bangkok, the authorities told him to stay inside his lodging and not go outside.

Meanwhile, the former president is due to return to Sri Lanka next week. Former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga said today that Gotabaya Rajapaksa will arrive in Sri Lanka on August 24th.
