A baby cobra was discovered inside the shoe of a student from a renowned boys’ school in Colombo yesterday, and the teenager was sent to the hospital.
The 13-year-old student from a Colombo area who rides in a school van reportedly hurriedly put on his shoe and left for class at around 5.50 am.
The eighth-grade youngster had experienced what felt like a needle stabbing his right thigh from inside his sneaker while walking a short distance to school.
The student, however, chose to disregard the occurrence and checked his shoe only after showing up at school 30 minutes later to discover a young Cobra concealed there.
The moment the school administration learned of the occurrence, they hurried him to Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children in Colombo.
Upon a medical inspection, the boy had just been lightly grazed by the snake, which was discovered to be 7 inches long.
The boy had not been bitten, and there was no venom in his blood, according to medical examinations, according to Dr. G. Wijesuriya, director of the Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital.
But he said that in order to check the child’s health, he will be kept under observation for a full 24 hours.
The youngster is currently stated to be in good health, according to sources.
